The Hip Hop Project
Art Start was founded in 1991 by Scott Rosenberg to encourage underserved children and teens in New York City explore their dreams through the arts. By providing an important artistic outlet for young people coping with racism, economic disparity and a crumbling education system, Art Start gives the youth the chance to tell their stories through creative arts and find personal success.
Through Art Start’s HIP-HOP PROJECT, these young people have started using hip-hop as a vehicle for self-discovery, creative development and finding success in their lives.
This is also the story of how Russell Simmons, Bruce Willis and Polo Ralph Lauren were inspired by the teens of THE HIP-HOP PROJECT and decided to make a difference by helping their dreams come true.
